Salary

R480 261 OSD (per annum)

Requirements

• Appropriate Trade Test Certificate
• 10 years post-qualification experience as an Artisan / Artisan Foreman
• Valid driver’s licence (except persons with disabilities)
• Technical competencies: project management, technical design & analysis, research & development, computer-aided engineering, legal compliance, technical report writing, technical consulting
• Generic competencies: decision making, teamwork, analytical skills, creativity, self-management, customer focus & responsiveness, communication, computer literacy, planning & organising, problem solving, change management, financial management

Duties

• Manage technical services & support with Technicians/Artisans in field, workshop and technical office activities
• Promote safety in line with statutory & regulatory requirements
• Provide inputs into technical manuals, standard drawings & procedures to incorporate new technology
• Ensure quality assurance in line with specifications
• Provide inputs to budgeting process & compile/submit reports as required
• Consolidate inputs to the technical operational plan & update database
• Manage artisans, related personnel and assets
• Control & monitor expenditure according to budget for efficient cash-flow management
• Manage commercial value-add of discipline-related activities & services
• Manage development, motivation & utilisation of human resources to ensure competent knowledge base
• Set & monitor subordinates’ performance standards and take corrective actions to achieve departmental objectives
• Continuous individual development to keep up with new technologies & procedures
• Research/literature studies on technical/engineering technology to improve expertise
• Liaise with relevant bodies/councils on technical/engineering-related matters
