Salary

R397 116 per annum

Requirements

    3-yr tertiary qualification (NQF 6)/National Diploma (T/N/S streams) or related OR (N3 plus passed trade test in relevant environment plus 3-5 years related technical experience). Valid driver’s licence. Knowledge: OHSA, National Building Regulations & Building Standards, technical knowledge of mechanical environment, procurement process & systems, property & facilities management. Skills: computer literacy, technical report writing, good verbal & written communication, programme & project management, relationship management, negotiation, problem solving, numeracy, financial administration. Personal attributes: resourceful, creative, ability to communicate at all levels, ability to work under stressful situations, assertive. Willing to travel & work irregular hours, committed to designated tasks.

Duties

    Identify needs & requirements of new work & repairs through investigation of customer complaints & new services required. Prepare specifications for unplanned maintenance & minor new work. Develop bill of quantities. Develop proposals on associated costs. Render inspection service of work done on new projects & existing structures. Inspect new &/or maintenance work undertaken on project sites to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations & legislation & that proper quality control is maintained. Analyse & compile relevant project documentation for new & existing structures through inter alia: develop & interpret plans & sketches, draw-up quotation documents & compile specifications, bills of quantities & bid documents, adjudicate & provide recommendations on quotations & bids, liaise with relevant stakeholders in respect of technical aspects. Project sites: advice & guide contractors in respect of compliance to legislation & procedures, verify invoices & certify progress of payments, check & process variation orders & make recommendations on requests for extension of deadlines, brief contractors & consultants on projects & certify claims for fees, provide advice & guidance on interpretation & application of legislation, policies & procedures. Ensure quality control & effective & efficient workflow of work done by Works Inspectors & report on all work allocated. Monitor proper utilisation of equipment, stores & expenditure. Administer departmental performance management & development system.
